Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which can increase their stats.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available throughout all over the world and are rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. This isn't the actual amount by the glyph can increase the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and the quality of the product you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components that are installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If, however, you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for upgrade options, however they can be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is based on the item's rarity and its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable to recycle than those with lower levels.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls will roll a % chance of a weapon's traits. If it rolls higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.

The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive and it's more fair to let people pay for it in the form of money or food items that allows players to modify their builds without a lot of time and effort. The developers do not plan to offer paid rerolls in this stage in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add an ability to change races in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to increase the level of an item upgrade. The most effective method to level up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the upgrade amount.
